LA ROSA

I thought I'd carry on camping after the festival and spend some time at this amazing little camp site in Whitby called La Rosa.
There's the 'Big Top' tipi tent with fancy dress wardrobe, each van is furnished in keeping with it's theme and has been decked out
with kitsch ornaments and decorations + a wood burning stove, we stayed in the Burlesque caravan + spent our evenings
round the roaring camp fire.

OLLY MURS 'BUSY'

I worked on the art department for Academy films on the new music video for olly murs 'busy' by the director was Corin Hardy.
The idea stemmed from the film 'lars and the real girl' and focused on steering olly away from a glossy xfactor pop star into a
more quirky american indie film style actor, of which he really got into character bringing his paper-mache girl to life.

The shoot was over two intense days with a small crew of around 20 in an amazing 70s style house in south London.

AKA CITY ARTS AND MUSIC PROJECT

The CAMP is an independently owned, temporary space which holds

a creative mix of art exhibitions, gigs, parties, launches and screenings

and they've asked me to help source artists and curate exhibitions with

MISTERLEGO aka Laurence Ajayi, who presented his solo

exhibition at c.a.m.p back in November check it out!

I'm so excited to be involved and currently working towards

my first exhibition on the 7th April 2011. We have some amazing

artists involved and more to be revealed nearer the time!

So far we have the talented illustrator OLIVER DUNN

who will be exhibiting a selection of new works...

WEDNESDAY 12TH JANUARY 2011

ROYAL COLLAGE OF ART - WORK IN PROGRESS SHOW

Students from Photography, Fashion, Textiles, Goldsmithing,

Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery exhibit their work in progress.

An excellent show with some really thought provoking work.

I really like how the boundaries in photography have been blurred

with the use of moving image, installation etc.

WEDNESDAY 19TH JANUARY 2011

THE MUSEUM OF EVERYTHING

Went to the Museum of Everything to see Exhibition #3 curated by

Sir Peter Blake with my good friend Ruth Clifford for an inspiration day,

which totally worked as I came away too inspired if anything and had to

have a cuppa tea and a sit down at the end of it in their lovely little café.

The Highlights for me were the room featuring the work of Walter Potter,

an eminent Victorian from Sussex who created taxidermy scenes in glass cases.

Some where very creepy but amazing.

Also the room of miniature fairground rides was brilliant,

we stayed to see them light up with music and it was brilliant to see

them all in motion. I love the eccentricity and vibe of the whole exhibition,

even with my dreaded fear of clowns!

Exhibition #3 ends February the 11th so get down there and check it out.

FRIDAY 21ST JANUARY 2011

SERPENTINE GALLERY

Had a few hours on my hands so popped in to see Philippe Parreno's

exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery. Quite a disorientating experience

(in a good way) The exhibition guides you through the different spaces

with sound and image into spaces where his films are shown.

At one point the shutters on the windows raise to show fake snow outside.

It was very clever and intriguing and the visuals where beautiful.

The show continues until the 13th of February

SATURDAY 22ND JANUARY 2011

...night I went along with Amber Ablett of [Details on Request] to

Bruno Humberto's 'Holding Nothing' A theatre and sound performance

made of circulation and layering of voices/actions inside, around and in

the centre of an audience.

The performance was incredible, Looping accordions, drums and the
live performance made for an interesting and exciting experience.
At the end the performer played his band Orchestra Elastique
which was a real treat!

SUNDAY 23RD JANUARY 2011

ICA - BLOOMBERG NEW CONTEMPORARIES

Phewph, A very cultured week ended in the new contemporaries show

at the ICA. There was a lot of really great work but one that stood out to

me was a 2D animation by Kristian de la Riva called 'cut' 2009.

It had a real sense of humor even tho it was quite painful to watch!

I've been looking forward to the release of this video since I got asked to help out,

I happened to already know the song as it featured on the 'Moshi Moshi singles

compilation 2008-2010' which got a lot of air time when I worked at Urban Outfitters.

So I was really excited to work on their video! And really proud of the final result..

the guys at Us have done it again..amazing and the concept was brilliant.

Really fun set to work on with a great team of people and the band were lovely too.

Best of luck for their debut album release in 2011!

So i've been a busy bee and made lots of things just in time for christmas!

These are my Felt Diamond Decorations on my not so christmasy tree,

they have gold backs and are 3.5 x 4 inch if you would like to snap

one up for your christmas tree or for a little present for a loved one

I didn't have time to screen print so I decided to hand draw,

i'll probably take some proper pictures of these instead of scanning as alot of the colours

are lost and you can't see the glossy varnish finish but you get the jist!

On the stage, Phantom, Teej, Radio 6 favs The Sound Carriers and Banks. DJ superstars Allez-Allez as well as folktronica masters Tunng will be gracing the decks, along with residents Paul, Matt and Glenn. Finally settled in my new flat in London, been up to bits and bobs! Mostly working on new illustration and 3D work towards my website which has been a long time coming, finally have the time to focus! So.. been up to more prop making and tings... most exciting recent work was for us (design studio) I helped out on the new music video for DELS - Trumpalump the The second single from his forthcoming debut album produced by Hot Chip's Joe Goddard. It was awesome working with these guys and the outcome was fantastic! A very sleek video with an amazing twist and to top it all off the track was sick, heavy Hot Chip bassline meets clever and slick rhymes, watch this space this guys gunna be BIG! All shall be revealed when the single is released next month! Until Then check out the first video they created for DELS "Shapeshift"

This week I was given a pillar in the women's accessories section, after pasting up pages of old books from oxfam I got to drawing some pretty ladies.. notice I slipped a cheeky bit of facial hair onto one.. having so much fun as a display arteest!

One of the charity shop books I found had some really pretty illustrations inside that look really nice nestled amongst the sexy lingerie!

The past few weeks I've been working on new screen printed Zine's and Tote bags for Lik + Neon who just celebrated the re-opening of their newly designed shop on Brick Lane! I particularly loved the new tunnel system for the cats to get around the shop, If you haven't yet been definitely check it out, you can't miss it as the outside is now neon orange, so don't forget your sunglasses!! xx

so I spent the week carving pumpkins for Browns Focus Halloween Party with Henry Holland, the theme of the night was 'to the end of your imagination' there were lots of amazing art installations from various creatives, the blood bath was so cool! In the very limited time and lack of funds I whipped up (no pun intended) a quick cupcake outfit which went down a treat (again..sorry) and a great night was had by all!

I bought a stack of original photographs of models in the 80's.. some are hilarious! and i've been trying to figure out what to do with them.. then I found an old ticket I kept from the races and some of the horses names where awesome so I smashed the two together and came out with some fun work.. I'm thinking of making them into a lo-tech magazine of some sort..

Gosh dang it haven't blogged in ages, been uber busy with degree show, hand in and all that but it's finally done.. went off without a hitch and i'm free to get on with the rest of my life now YEY! Planning lots of new fun things to do.. lots of making stuff and hopefully in a few months will have set up my new screen print dungeon at home (leeds!) so that's the plan for now..watch this space

Just came back from a weekend of shameless self promotion and it went super! 'Progress' ran from the 6th to the 9th of April, a show exhibiting 45 students from bath spa responding to the word progress at the Dray Walk Gallery on Brick Lane.

My work was an interactive piece encouraging people to colour in, which they did, plus a little graffiti, but hey it's all fun and games and that was the point to get people involved. I also sold colouring books at the shop for £2 each.

so i've been researching children's books toys and things to get a feel for my next project, basically we are having a exhibition in London from the 3rd until the 6th of April and the theme is 'Progression'. The way I see it is we have all progressed in an educational environment and the next step will be flying the nest and making it on our own as designers/ illustrators (unless going on to an MA course). So I want to make something for people to take away from the exhibition, to make it fun & interactive, thinking of making a coloring book that's mass produce and have as part of my exhibition piece. Whilst researching I came across these cuties!!

I found out it is the story of a little bear who wanted to sing and travel the world, and there's an animation which is adorable even tho I can't understand because it's all in french it's the cutest thing ever

also here's a little harmonica I picked up on my travels a few years ago, i love the packaging & colours

so yeah, that's all work in progress.. some stuff i've been doing over the past week...

this is just something I wanted to do, don't know what it's for but I liked drawing people for once..needed the practice!

Also... the new brief at uni is to create a poster for a visiting lecturer of your choice, so they can be whoever you would like, dead or alive (because it ain't real) I chose Devendra Banhart cause he's not only a musical genius but an artist and just generally awesome. so this is guna be an A1 CMYK screen print (which is huge..and frankly a bit daunting!) hope it doesn't f*up

Been working on a few competitions, this is my final piece for Lloyds TSB- Art of Nurture.. the title I chose was innovation/originality. I think my collage needs work but I'm enjoying different things.

I also made a poster for the visiting lecturer at university Peter Broderick (the multi-instrumentalist).
